Happy National Proposal Day!

Many people dream, plan, and anticipate for the big day that will lead them down the altar with their soul mate—but before they say I do, they have to say YES!

In the spring, many couples decide to take the next big step in their budding romance because of National Proposal Day. There is no exact date on record when this special day was first observed, but it was created by Texan John Michael O’Loughlin to dedicate a specific day to encourage marriage proposals.

March 20 was chosen as the special date due to the alleged effects of the Vernal Equinox, or spring awakening, to the human hormones, symbolizing the equal forces between the couple necessary in making a marriage work.

Obviously, the question of marriage is traditionally accompanied with a special engagement ring selected with great care. In honor of National Proposal Day, we rounded up some adorable couples that recently popped the question. We wish them all much happiness and a future of fulfilled dreams!

"He mumbled something about having loved me for three months and that made us both laugh because it had been three years. That broke the shock, and he started again and it was the sweetest.
